Windows won't recognize my nvidia drivers

Hi.

Abit KG7-Lite
AthlonXP
Geforce 2 mx (noname)
win2k sp2

all the latest patches etc.

The latest (or older, it doesn't matter) nvidia reference drivers (for just about every nvidia board ever) are extracted to a directory, and I browse to that directory with the hardware wizard (biggest misnomer ever). I even see the .inf file (nv4disp?). 'Ok' -> Windwos was unable to find a suitable driver bla bla bla.

Now what the heck is going on? I can see the file, but windows can't?

I am very grateful for any help, this is clearly beyond me... :-/
