I added a new motherboard(gigabyte 7g-dx.. i think this is it), cpu(amd 1600), and ram(elixir pc2100 256mb) that i bought from a friend... and I also added a pc2700 memory on top of that... with some other stuff like new vid card... westerdigital 180 gig... and then i threw everything into my koolance case...

The problem... windows wont start&)@*&)&%)(*@&#)($... I keeps looping around and around back to that screen where it asks you to either:
1. go to safemode
2. go to safemode network
3. goto safemode command prompt
4. go to windows

and whatever choice i choose it keeps looping around and around back to bios and then back to that screen... somebody please help...

That is pretty normal when you switch motherboard types in XP. You can try to repair it, but it sounds like you need to format the drive.

also...make sure that you don't have the motherboard pushing the pc2100 at 2700.

But yeah, it definitely sounds like a reformat is needed.

George, it looks like you'll need to boot to the Windows XP CDROM and choose REPAIR. When it finishes loading to the black screen you'll choose the # of your default c:\windows install (usually 1). The administrator password is usually not set so just hit ENTER on your keyboard.

This is quite common when you do a motherboard swap. Let me know if you need anymore help and goodluck!!
