So for the past two days ive been trying to install windows on my computer and i foun the problem..........my windows wont insall or boot if my comp is in AHCI or RAID mode. I have a RAID1 array that i need so keeping it in IDE mode is not an option. Why wont my computer boot in AHCI mode or RAID mode? My OS drive is a singl 150gb velociraptor.

each needs different driver. RAID is for pairing two drives into one for redundancy or performance.

I know RAID pairs drives and stuff, but i dont know how to install the drivers if i have no drivers to install :(. The onyl RAID drivers ASrock supplies is for XP floppy disk drivers. WHich amuses me since my board doesnt have a floppy port.

There are few ways

Search fo slipstreaming an AHCI/RAID driver to XP CD
nLite does it:
http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

Second way is that for most boards, flash drive can be emulated as floppy.
I assume you want to install XP?

No i dont, thats the sad part. Windows 7 X64 ultimate :(. What ahppened was i had RAID velociraptors and one of them died, so i took it out and tried to install W7 on my single drive (but i still had my RAID1 drives) but it wouldnt even let me select ANY drives when i was in RAID mode, and only one drive on AHCI mode (no other drives appeared). So now i installed in IDE mode, hacked my way into AHCI mode, but RAID mode still wont work. All drivers and BIOS are updated, its just so weird that it orked fine before i did a reformat. Any suggestion?

were they in RAID0 or RAID1?
I think you will need to write all 0s on drive so that operating systems are not confused with its partition table. AFAIK, having it in RAID messes up drive's partition table and MBR. It can be reset by going in BIOS and deleting the RAID pair; but can't do that if one drive is gone.

My raptors were RAID0, and i had a pair of 160gb drives in RAID1 for backup of files. On of my raptors died so i took it out and tried to do a format and fresh install to that drive, but everything is messed up. So after a lot of effort i brought it upstairs and formatted it from inside windows in another computer. I also formatted both of my 160gb drives in the BIOS and deleted teh RAID1 setup. Somthing that might be of help is that when i booted in windows the first time i got it to work, my 750gb drive was offline because it had some sort of conflict with my raptor.
