Quick recap from my last post:
adding a new harddrive (WD) -> booting up WindowsXP with old HD (Maxtor) -> PSU went dead -> replaced PSU -> WinXP won't boot with old HD (Maxtor)

I keep getting a BSOD during boot up, giving a STOP 0x0000007e error. Can't start in any of the safe mode. Once it goes to the welcome screen, everything starts to blink, and i can't get futher into the OS. No Start menu or anything.
I don't even know if my new HD (WD) is installed/formatted properly, but the BIOS recognized it, as well the the Maxtor, so my guess is both were not damaged by the dead PSU.

I want to avoid reinstalling Windows or formatting the HD. Any help will be much appreciated!

Try a repair install. Sounds like when the PSU went out it corrupted your install.
