I want to turn off visualizations in Windows Media player 9.

Under VIEW, you will find VISUALIZATIONS - just uncheck it.

It is in WMP10. View->Visualizations->No visualizations. It's probably really similar in WMP9??

nope, it's totally different from WMP 10,

and under options all there is are options to download more visualizations
