Windows "windows" are resizing incredibly weird

Ok so here's the deal. I'm running a dual screen setup using nvidia's little desktop manager. I tried to get all the aim windows to open in the first monitor but they all open in the second monitor. So after a lot of fiddling I give up. Now my mozilla download windows are all maximizing t hemselves as default. (all of my windows are doing the same thing) How do I make them a certain size and then have them memorize that? Also, all my aim windows are created as huge blocks on my screen. HOw do i resize those and tell them to memorize to that position? I've tried everything and nothing seems to work, any help is appreciated thanks.

It looks like the global memory for window sizes is gone, and something is preventing it from re-learning the default for window sizes for diff. apps.
