Windows will not boot!

I have Windows XP Pro installed. I also have the beta version of Vista. I never got around to installing vista but since i have an extra hard drive i thought i would give it a shot. I unhooked my raptor and put in another hard drive. I installed Vista to it without a hitch. I then decided to go back to my old configuration. I removed the hard drive with Vista and hooked the raptor back up. Now windows will not boot. I gets to back up cmos and then stalls. Or it stalls at verifying pool. I put the vista hard drive back in and got the same result. What could be the issue?

Reset CMOS Bios and make sure you use same ports for HDD, Windows will not load up if you have plugged it into a different port
