Windows Volume Control won't stay put, what's the deal?

I recently installed a new sound card, and all is well, except, playback was really quiet. I went into Windows Volume Control, noticed the slider bar was way down, scrolled it up, and all is well. Later, I go to play another audio file, and it's really quiet again, go back into Windows Volume Control, and the slider bar is back to really quiet again! Ugh!

I had this problem with the SBLive... A driver update seems to have fixed it.
