That obviously varies, because I can get XP and XP64 in one package for about $11 (but it's been since the beginning of last semester that I bought it, so that could figure could be off by +/- $2). Vista might be more expensive when it comes out, but I don't know why it would be any different than XP when comparing equivalent packages (Vista is rumored to come in a ton of different "flavors").Originally posted by: starwars7
ouch, I wonder what it will be for students.
Right now, XP Pro runs $90 for students

$200? Damn, I sure do love being a pirate... of the seven seas, of course -- certainly not software... certainly not...

What do you think Microsoft will price Vista at when it comes out?
-DirectX still requires certain hardware features. Ever wonder why the GeForce4 Ti series is DirectX 8 compatible and the Radeon 9500 and higher are DX 9.0 compatible? It's the hardware. If I'm not mistaken Halo can drop back to DX 8 or 7 mode for older cards like your hunk of crap SiS card. If it even runs Halo it's probably 640x480 in DX 7 or 8 mode with every option on low, and still a slideshow.Originally posted by: jayanath
ok the price doesn't matter for software
when do u think the Direct X10 cards will come.. wont dx9 cards run dx10 games my crappy SIS 651 still runs halo i think the card is almost five to six years old.. isnt direct X just software
