Windows Vista

Ok I have a few questions and statements about vista. I thought it was going to be a horrible product until I tried it. Yes there are some issues but every software has that issue. There are things that I don't know how to do in vista yet that I would know in xp. But thats my issue not vista.

Then there are these people out there that complain about price well with other programs they use that are fairly expensive to you and me that can find free alternatives they dont care about the price. As for compatibility those people are the ones that you'll see trying to use a win95 native program and refuse to move to anything new. Newest isnt always better i admit but going newer costs money and saves time(for a majority). For the harware requirements its like that with everything you want to do something more and new with your current what ever year old hardware you will need to upgrade. Why do they think computers are immune to this.

People shouldnt be trying too run current software on a computer built in the mid 90's. Everything needs to be upgraded when you want to do more then its specs allow. As for the "It's slowing my whole computer down" comment well dont be using all these BLOATED current software programs and not expect them to slow down your system and infect your startup with crap. I expect it so maybe that makes me computer savvy?? IDK. Nero is a major player in the bloatware now and norton has been for a few years.

Thats why I try not to use bloatware. As for UAC turn if off if you don't like it. Keep it on if you don't feel comfortable around files that your not sure of what they do and if you delete them and something doesnt work then oh well your SOL. I'm sorry for the grammar never been good at it. Either way I just happen to think about this at work today feel free to add or correct onto my comments.

***Rant***

Another note is that all these vista bashers probably go to pcmag.com and read their articles why vista is aweful well inbetween reading that why don't they look on how to edit the startup programs so their "Vista making my computer slow" issues will start to resolve themselves. I know they have how to's on how do to that I've seen them.

I have been doing OS engineering support since OS/2 2.0 was just starting beta (ok I think that was 1991).

It is the same story ever time.

<remembers XP pre-service pack 1>

....and people think Vista is bad.... <shudder>

Though it is also a truism that "What Intel Bringeth, Microsoft Taketh Away"

Oh I remember the pain in the A** the xp pre-sp1 and sp2 was. My mother didnt really like that xp back then and asked the same question she does now. Why do I need that can't we stay with what we have. Then she loved xp and the process starts again. I hate that people bash vista and when someone offers a way around a problem or w/e it maybe they don't want to do it. But when someone bashes xp and then that same vista basher says oh theres a way around that here it is. They think nothing of the sort when that happens.

NT SP1 came out about a month after release because there was a serious NTFS bug that caused data corruption. It was more of a "when" instead of "if" bug. Kind of cemented the whole "wait for the service pack" thing.

true but with vista most updates that were critical were delieverd before sp1. sp1 just wrapped them all up in one. there were a few that werent included though.

Those were security patches and not bug fixes though. Different animals.

well no for instance the problem with some earlier vista install discs where you can't install vista with more then 3gb of memory that was a bug fix correct?

well the main reason i refuse to upgrade to vista is because... there is simply no reason to... its basically same as XP with software compatibility problems due to it being a new OS... and with added annoying dialog boxes...... etc

besides, there are no software on the market that supports vista "only"...
