I think there's quite a few of us here who are now running 64-bit Vista. I have been using it for a while and while it's generally solid, I have noticed some bugs and other issues that may be specific to 64-bit Vista. It's not always clear whether a problem is specific to the 64-bit OS, Vista in general, or just something caused by some other software that's installed. So I was hoping that we could all present our issues here in this thread, discuss and compare and work out a list of things that are definately issues specific to Vista x64. Let me know if you guys think this is a good idea.

I'll start out with a problem I'm having. There's a couple programs I use that install an entry in the right-click context menu. WinRAR and Better File Rename are the ones I'm talking about specifically. Sometimes they will dissappear from the context menu and to get them back I have to reboot or even reinstall the program. This is something I don't remember ever happening when I was using 32-bit Vista. So, anyone else come across this issue?
I have an issue with S.M.A.R.T. Hard Drive monitoring, and the HD temperature monitoring on my drives.
It just does not work. The SMART data cannot be read by Everest, and the temperature sensors are not accessible. SpeedFan cannot acces the drives' data either.
It works fine in XP.
Any ideas...?

Which version of Everest are you using? I have 4.20.1170 and I'm having no trouble monitoring HD temps and SMART status with Everest in Vista 64. My drives are SATA, btw.
I never got Speedfan to work. It just froze on start. And I couldn't control the fan speeds on my x1950 Pro, because it needs signed drivers or whatever requirement that Vista x64 has, that didn't let me install Ati Tools or Ati Tray Tools properly. So I was doomed to sit next to a very noisy computer.
And I had sound issues too. Cracks, pops, etc. But that was with onboard sound, dunno how it is with my Creative.
Besides that, Vista x64 worked beautifully. If I could only get Speedfan and ATT to work... I'd still have it.
What can I do?

Did you install winrar without turning UAC off? I had a similar issue until I installed it with UAC off.
i noticed the same thing when i had my FX-60 setup, that the sensor info disappeared when you install the nforce drivers. i bet the sensor info showed up right after you installed windows and before you installed the nforce drivers.
The biggest problem I have is that I can't create system restore points because I and system restore don't have the right permissions for my SVI (System Volume Information) folder. I get an Access Denied error. So far I have changed the permissions, a lot of them and I haven't really gotten any where.
I have found out in Everest forums that it is an issue of nForce drivers.
No SMART support from NVidia in their August 2007 version of SATA drivers.
Would you recommend un-installing the NVidia SATA drivers...?
Some people complained that they actually lowered the transfer speeds, instead of increasing it over the built-in Vista drivers.
