Windows Vista problem

this just started happening yesterday. I'm just web browsing on Firefox and a window pops up asking me to "Connect Broadband Connection". If i ignore it, I lose my connection but if i press cancel, my internet is just fine. It asks me to enter a username and password. there's no set pattern to when i pops up, sometimes every ten seconds, sometimes 1-2 hours, it just pops up and I have to press cancel. It's not a major problem but a hassle to have to constantly deal press cancel. Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Looks like for some reason it thinks you need to dial-up or log on to an ISP, maybe even a security issue. In Firefox, the relevant settings are under Options, Advanced, and the Network tab. With IE, you can find them under Tools/Internet Options, then the Connections tab (press the "Alt" key to bring up the top menus in IE7). You may have to change the IE settings, ironically, since Windows relies on those, although technically this is "Internet Options" in the Control Panel (you can get there either way).
