Windows Vista Partition Problems

Hey Guys,

I am trying to partition a new drive HD I bought, but for some reason Windows Vista Parition manager will only let me shrink it by half, thus only allow half the drive to be put into my 2nd partition. The drive is 500 gigs and I want it to be 150/350. It's only allowing 250/250... why is this, and is there a different tool?

Thanks!

Try checking your drive's manufacturer website. Most likely they will have diagnostic software that can also partition your drive(I'm assuming that you don't have any data on your drive already).

The shrink in vista only shrinks back to the first 'unmoveable' file it encouters. In my experience you wind up with lots of things Vista finds unmoveable so the feature really doesnt work as advertised...
