I'm not sure if this belongs in the Software for Windows section so if it does mods please move it.

I was at my physical therapy office yesterday discussing MS Office. One of the trainers said he had a trial of office 2007 installed on his computer and it was about to expire. I had told him to look on ebay and get a version of 2003 for cheap or a student/teacher edition of 2007 for around 99-149 in the store.

This lady, who was working out, overheard the conversation and said that she worked as a tech in Staples and that Office 2003 is not compatible with Vista. I had told her that I had 2003 installed on my wife's notebook with Vista and never had any problems. I told her that I believe Office 2007 is optimized for Vista whereas 2003 is not. I guess that the only problem you may encounter is when trying to open a 2007 .docx file in 2003 but there is a compatibility pack that you can DL from MS.

She went on and on about it. She even went on to say that she would break his fingers if he installed it.

Anyways, if anyone can set the record straight it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Moved from Off Topic.

Tech + staples shoulda been a dead giveaway

Thanks, thats what I thought. I've never had any issues with it.

I was thinking the same thing about tech + staples but didn't want to be rude.

Office XP (2002) has a few issues, the main one I know of is Outlook cannot save your POP3 password. But then I put 2003 on and it has been flawless. This staples "tech" is an idiot.

Great, thanks!
