Windows Vista media centre dll files appeared on desktop

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me fix a strange problem I'm experiencing.
I purchased a new laptop last week, it's running Windows Vista 32 bit OS

Several dll and exe files to do with Windows Vista's Media centre has suddenly appeared on my desktop. This is really strange since I didn't put theese icons on my desktop, they just suddenly appeared there..when you try to open move or delete them, says FILE NOT FOUND and to vaify location and try again. Windows media centre is not working now when I try to open it..it mentions a problem with a cpl files..I'm really not sure what to do at this point.

Every time I try to delete theese, a box comes up saying..Could not find item, and that it's not longer located in C:/USERS/PUBLIC/PUBLIC DESKTOP. and it says to verify the items location and try again..I already have, theese dll and exe files are loacated in the right locations is the ehome directory in windows, but for some reason there is all theese duplicate icons of the files on my desktop and they won't delete!..I figured theese would be safe to delete since they are in the proper location, but it wouldn't allow it.

does anyone know how I can fix this problem and get windows media centre working again..I have no idea how theese dll/exe files appeared on my desktop area, there are at least 15 of them, the size of all of them is 0 bites and shows that they are located on the desktop, so its like they dont even exist so why can't I delete them?. especially since theese same files with 0 bites in size is found in the proper location in the ehome directory of windows, im very confused here any help would be great.
