I am waiting for the arrival of a public release of the Beta for Vista. I see if you are a MSDN subscriber (which I am not) you can download the Beta 1. I am a MCSE 2003 cert holder, why can't I have the right to play also.

The reason MSDN subscribers can get this release - is because it was made available for Developers to get their software and drivers ready for the next version of Windows... It is not a fully working version of Vista, nor is it meant to be used as a desktop OS yet. Your not missing out on much at this point in the game.

Your MCSE paper holds no grounds in this area...

Oh I know, but I still want to take a look around. I understand it is in release for developers right now for numerous reasons, that still doesn't mean that I shouldn't be able to have a peek also.

I would only be putting it on a laptop that I am not using right now.

Uh, yes it does. That's what 'closed beta' means.

Be patient and wait for Beta2. It will be much more interesting and useful.

And what kind of horsepower does that little laptop have? I have Vista Beta 1 running on my rig, albeit in Virtual PC (giving it 1.5GB of RAM), and it's not the speediest thing I've run. So, unless your laptop has at least 1GB of RAM and a newer processor, be happy to wait for Beta 2 since it should perform alot better...

OP - If you want to play with it so bad you could always go and buy yourself an MSDN license...

Then you can play with all the new toys you want :)
