My school is hosting a Vista Launch party thing, and the ad said free copies of Vista. Can anyone verify this, or are they making up the whole free thing?

I've been to one. They gave out like 5 copies of Vista, 5 of Office 2007, and some Vista and Office books. I got a book, which based on Vista beta. :|

I saw flyers posted yesterday for one here at U of M. I'm wondering what good a free copy of Vista is to students who can already get Vista for free via MSDNAA, unless the MSDNAA only allows you one copy. I haven't downloaded mine yet so I haven't seen the licensing agreement.
