i am buying a computer for my mom, she is not at all computer literate (can check email, surf web, use ms word, thats about it).

she has been using xp on her old computer. should i upgrade to vista home premium. btw, its a free upgrade from dell, thats the only reason i'm considering it.

edit: processor is athlon x2 dual core 3800+, she will be using windows media connect to connect to the xbox360 (y she has one of those is a whole different story)

Stick with the WinXP - I would take the updgrade when Dell makes it available in February - it's worth the $10. But would not install it unless she ask for it.

what will vista do that xp wont. i guess this is a global question about the different OS. I havent been into computers much, too much time at the hospital lately.

 
I'd suggest Vista, sounds like a machine that wont be updated frequently so I'd say start on the latest so it lasts as long as possible for her.
