Windows Vista-esque appearance for XP

I've seen tons of links and articles for making XP look like Vista, but for the life of me I can't get any of them to work.

It seems like most of these were created pre-SP3, and that might be my problem. I tried installing XP Style and it screwed up some setting so that now I can't even make XP look like XP; it can only use the classic setting.

Does anyone have any helpful advice/links for how to pretty up my theme, preferably with easy-to-understand instructions?
