I'm aware of that thread, I even posted in it, I started this thread because that thread is old and is from the time when you could sign up for it. Now the beta2 has gone public and is freely downloadable. It's more direct and appropriate for a new thread.

Does everyone get the same generic product key? Or they all unique? I know in previous betas I did, it's been awhile, they pretty much had one generic one for everyone.

I'm pretty sure the product keys are all unique. I had to register & log in with my passport.net account to get a key and links to download the iso. After that I started downloading, the download failed, so I had to go through the process again, and it gave me another key that time.

Have you guys been able to download the .ISO yet?

I decided to use the Akamai download manager. The generic one built into IE is not reliable for big files, and it has no resume function at all. Mine is at 42%. The speed seems to fluctuate around 400 KB/s with my Comcast cable. It says I have 1 1/2 hours left, but I think it is going faster than that.

This thing is huge - 3GB. As far as I know, Windows has never come on DVD. Even XP didn't even fill out a regular CDR.

Right now I am using the firefox download manager and up to 47% the iso is over 3 gigs so it will take a while. I am also downloading the office beta stuff. So I can set up a test rig to try this new stuff out. Also I am pretty sure but not positive that all product keys are different but you are allowed to install each product key 10 times.

ok well mine definately does not contain that string of letters and numbers. So i guess they are different now.

ok so i guess stand corrected you might want to try the akamai download manager I was using firefox and i got all the way up to 67% and then the download failed on me. Talk about good time wasted especially during a woot-off.

*Also if your download fails and you try to go back and download it again. It won't let you it just keeps saying you have reached your maximum number of product keys*

None of the MS download links work anymore. The AKAMAI download manager and the direct download link is being burdened by too many users.

I'm using firefox and I got in about 30 mins ago. I'm at 27%, but that will suck if it doesn't complete.

I accidentally ordered Twice, and both Product Keys are DIFFERENT. So, they ARE giving out Unique Product Keys. You ARE allowed 2x product keys anyways. I tried for a third and they DO actively limit you to 2x Keys during the order process.

I can NOT for the life of me get Vista downloaded. Keep getting a Server busy message. In fact, ALL day has been that message.

I really hope the x64 version gets torrented tonite so I can let it download tonite if I can't get a good 350+ KB/Sec download speed.

If anyone has a good download link or torrent link for the OS, please post it. :)

well i tried downloading with my first passport account and that failed and won't let me redownload So i am trying again with a new gmail i just created to create a new passport. by the time i am done with this i am going to have one good download of vista and 50 product keys.

If you are having trouble downloading from the official MS links, try downloading the public beta 2 from a torrent. I know the one at mininova.org is pretty good, though not super fast.

mininova.org so far is the only one I can find.. I'm not torrent pro tho, anyone find a faster tracker?

The links in the original post are giving access denied errors. Also, mininova.org only has as single German x64 version of Vista as far as I can see.

If I find anything I will post it.

No no, they have the 32-bit English version as well. I'd post a link, but I'm not sure if that is against form rules.

If yours hangs at 99% finished, just hit the "pause" button twice. This will pause and restart the download. This is using the recommended download program, which was Akamei, or something spelled like that.
