Windows Vista 64 ultimate install order

Ok, I'm normally a go-getter but over the years I continue to do things incorrectly and have to go through hours debugging. For my new build I want to do things correctly in the first place to eliminate some headachs. That and this is my first build using a 64 bit OS so I'm in unknown waters. First off the parts I have:

Abit IP35-E
C2D E8400
8GB (4x2GB) Super Talent DDR-800
eVGA 8800GTS 512
X-Fi Exteme Music
2x500GB Segate SATA (no raid array)
Earthwatts 500
P180

I don't have the OS yet but will very soon when my MS contact gets it from the store. I have heard of several issues with installing Vista 64 ultimate, mainly something about using only 2GB of ram during install and not installing logitech set point. I assume drivers for everything else should be fine.

After formating/partitioning my drives, what do you guys reccomend for proper install order?

Do you see any other issues with the build?

Are the X-Fi drivers finally working well?

If set point can't be used, is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity on the fly with the G5 beyond the default levels?

And last question, though this should probably be in the mobo section, when do I need to update the BIOS on the IP35-E to support the E8400? Can I start the machine with it in or will I need to do the BIOS update first off?

Thanks for all the help!
