Windows video formats compatible with Apple??

I'm not really sure this topic belongs here but here goes.

I am doing a project for my daughter's boyfriend (probably more than you want to know) and it entails putting a video on CD that can be read on an Apple MacIntosh. I can put the video onto CD alright from my Windows 2000 Pro(OS included in case it makes a difference) computer in MPG format. I have the ability to create Windows Media Player format and convert that to RealPlayer format and vice versa. I would like to know if RealPlayer format is compatible with an Apple based computer? If not, is there a way of converting Windows Media Player or RealPlayer format to something that an Apple can read?

I do not know what model Apple it is, for anyone curious.

TIA

QuickTime will read MPEG files without any problem. When the Duke Nukem Forever trailer was released as an MPEG at E3 I downloaded it on a Mac to watch it without problems. RealPlayer is also available for the Mac but I think more users just have QuickTime installed.
