I just reformatted my computer. So far I have updated all my device drivers and now I need to do some windows updating. Is my best bet to install all the updates prior to Service Pack1 or should I install Service Pack 1 before anything else?
 
I'd install the SP first because the SP probably includes some of the other fixes and then you won't have to install them after... You'll get a different set of updates after the SP is installed.
 
You should apply Service Pack 1 FIRST , then the other updates.

TBH you should really update your machine with as many updates as you can (at least SP1) before applying device drivers.
