Windows Update won't work?

I just built my new computer, and part of that process was reinstalling my OS, WinXP. I've been trying since 8/16 to run Windows Update, but every time I try to download and install the list of updates, nothing will download, and I'm prompted to repeat the process.

Has anyone else gotten Windows Update to work in the past 48 hours? Is this part of Microsoft protecting themselves from the Blaster worm? Any suggestions?

As far as I know MS Update has been having problems with a virus. I just recently reinstalled, and obtained a virus from windows update, I guess its a worm but norton detects it and has plenty of info about it. Im unsure if this is what is your problem for sure...but it does show that windows update is having some issues.

I havent resaearched the subject enough to provide any more info.
