Windows update wants to install same updates over and over.

Windows Update keeps telling me I need the same patches every time I scan for updates. For example the DirectX 9.0b End-User Runtime update is always flagged as a recommended update eventhough it is already listed as successfully installed when I view installation history!

I've got the same 21 critical updates it wants me to install eventhough I've already run the update twice today! And all the updates were successfully installed!

Any ideas?
