Windows UPDATE Services open eval program

Just got into the WUS evaluation program. If you dunno what I'm talking about:
http://www.microsoft.com/windo...stem/wus/overview.mspx

In summary, WUS allows one of your servers to act as a windows update server to patch clients/servers locally, and at the admin's discretion. Very handy tool if it works well enough.

I don't have a spare server to toy around with so am not going to install as of yet. Requirements include 30gb of hd storage to store the patch files. Just wondering if anyone has tinkered with it yet.

I've played with its predecessor, Software Update Services. It looked very useful (if we had something besides an NT 4.0 domain to run it on, that is  ). You can download a 180-day trial of Windows Server 2003 last I knew... maybe use that for your evaluation purposes?

WUS is much more comprehensive than SUS. It can update Windows, Office, Exchange, and eventually others. The 180 day trial of 2003 is a good idea, but be aware that WUS will run on a 2000 server as well.
