Windows update problem : error 8024402f

Running win xp pro, trying to run windows update, express, gives me an error - 8024402f - can't display web page. I don't see a solution on MS website. Anybody heard of this error or suggest what I could do. Thanks.

Changing the proxy server settings fixed it.
