Windows Update Page Doesn't Load on XP Machine

I'm working with a Windows XP Home machine that can't bring up the Windows Update page in Internet Explorer. It says the "page done but wth errors." I've tried clearing out the cache, cookies, and history. I also put the IE security levels and other settings back to the defaults. Other web pages seem to work fine. The computer was full of adware, but I was able to clear them all out using Adaware and Toolbar Cop. Any ideas why the Windows Update page still won't work?

go to your local staples or bestbuy and see if you can pickup a free service pack 2 cd and upgrade your xp home and then see if that fixes it.
