Windows Update inside Windows Update [IE7]

I having a weird Windows Update problem when running it from Internet Explorer 7. See picture. Windows Update inside Windows Update If I click the Custom button, it would scan for a few seconds and that whole Internet Explorer process would freeze. You have to End Process from task manager. Weirdest thing. Win XP SP2.

have you tried updating IE7? the only idea i have is maybe try maybe this addon for FF that includes the IE engine will work?

What video card/drivers are you using?

What processor?

Why you try opening IE7 and then clicking on the Tools > Windows Update link does it "double page" up on you?

I'm not sure if this is the same thing I have, but if so, it doesn't include the IE engine. It just uses whatever version of IE you have on your computer and opens it in a firefox tab.

If you're using an nVidia video card, particularly one that uses IDE drivers, then either manually remove the nVidia IDE driver (which would cause your system to use the default Windows XP IDE driver) OR go to nVidia's site and update the driver to the very very most recent one (after checking the compatibility for your motherboard.)

Yes, I know it sounds strange. But it has worked for several others.
