I have Win2000 SP1 and when I goto windows update and install that Critical updates + other stuff or do it individually they don't go away when I come back to it. Why is it doing that?

Are you sure they actually install? I know when I use my slipstreamed Win2K+SP1, the updates at WindowsUpdate always fail to install. They download fine, but fail instantly. It doesn't even try to install.

Are you logged in as an administrator? I know that sometimes make a difference if it installs or not.

nope, it did it to me for a while. strangely, upgrading to sp1 was what appeared to stop it happening.

i recommend only having one browser window open, and not surfing while downloading.

just click download and leave it alone. it's a bloody tempramental system.

🙂

I think I may have to format again I was logged in as administrator and installed some stuff then made a seperate account and started installing stuff and I think something got fvcked up somewhere in between.
