 Those would be the latest MS certified drivers for the Nvidia (they are written by Nvida)

As for the AMD update, as I recall that one allows for proper identification of newer AMD chips by XP.

Avoid Windows Update drivers. They tend to break things. Only use drivers from the manufacturer.
They are from the manufacturer. They are the latest certified drivers. If they are coming up then the ones you have installed must be older. Are you sure they are newer? May want to check the dates again?

I've never had a single one break something on my machine before.

Microsoft doesn't make those drivers--the respective manufacturers do. Microsoft tests and signs the drivers, and stamps it with their name to ship with Windows. Problems, when they do occur, tend to crop up because the drivers signed by Microsoft tend to be old.

1. Because you have an AMD CPU with an older Windows driver.
2-3 - Because Microsoft can't see that you have newer OEM drivers.

I too find it annoying that 2-3 is so common, but you should do 1.
