Windows Update broken on W2k

I pulled out the old laptop, which had W2K sp2 on it. Windows update would not load past the "Windows Update is looking for available updates...0%" screen.

Found an update to SP4 and updated IE to 6.0. Problem persists as described above. I tried changing the settings for update via control panel to no avail. Any ideas? Or has MS "EOL'd" my lappy? :laugh:
