Windows, TV, and me...

Hey All!
I'm curious about something: I have a ATI Radeon TV tuner card which I generally use to record shows in a a tivo like fashion. (Can't miss StarGate) Up until now I have been using the extremely lame program that came with the card, and I have settled for the fact that I can do little more than just sit and watch the program, commericals included.

This led me to wonder if it was possible to watch TV via some other program that would save as something that I could edit in Windows Movie Maker. (For the ATI program has a "special" encoder that doesn't play well with others)

So I was curious as to what you folks have done with a similar situation, and what you would suggest. (Cheap alternatives, "Go buy yourself a TIVO" is not an option.)

😛 No, this is off topic. I don't want technical advice, I want casual advice you might give someone at the bar if this question was to come up.

Yeah, I've had similar issues with the software for my leadtek tv card being iffy at best.

It doesn't sound like you frequent bars much.

Definitely not. I go to bars to talk about anything but computers, because I realised that it's an incredibly sad thing to do.

windows media center is even worse...you cant even watch the files not thru windows media player....and im pretty sure you wont be able to edit it 😛

Ahhh, Bars are people too! Well, I feel like I'm wasting my life if I spend time talking about Sports and the weather, so to each his own. It's really about the people I hang with and we enjoy computers and it's remarkably more interesting to talk with people who know what they are talking about with computer vs the people's computers I fix all day.
