Windows Time and XP Problem

Windows XP has a nice feature that allows you to syncronize your time with a time server, so your clock is as accurate as possible..

Well I was tweaking my system and now my syncronization system isnt working correctly. I get the following error: "An error occurred getting the status of the last syncronization. The RPC server is unavailable."

Anyone have an idea of how to correct this problem?

what were you doing?

there is a place in the registry that keeps the address of teh servers, you can add more if you want. did you maybe mess with that?

This is a good lesson to NOT tweak unless you are certain what you are doing and know what the results will be.

I just checked my XP and got synchronized with the .gov web site. Nice feature I had not known about before.

Thanks for mentioing it has that feature.

Sorry I cannot help you with your tweaking problem.

I was messing with some services, but I returned them all to normal. The only other thing that should have affected it was TweakXP.. the program, but I got rid of that over a month ago.

I was having a problem with my keyboard. I spilt some milk on it two weeks ago, and it made my CTRL keys funky. So I swapped it with another I have, and now the windows time syncronization feature works. It gives me an error when I try to sync with time.windows.com "An error occurred while windows was syncronizing with time.windows.com" or "Windows has never sycnronized the time"..

But it works fine with the time.nist.gov server..
