Hello all having an odd problem.

When windows xp pro (fresh install) loads it takes like 2 min on the load up screen then it loads and the comp runs like a charm.
Here is the hardware
athlon xp 2800+ *non-oced*
kt-600a mainboard
512 mb ram corsair ddr333 cl2 with heat spreaders*tried it with 256 of pqi value ram same result*
radeon 9200 se *tried it with 9500 pro also same result*
wd 80 gig hd *tried it with 40 gig wd caviar same result*
thermaltake 420 watt ps *tried this in another machine worked fine*
temps are fine and all bios option are at defult ie.. not oced or Turbo.

i cant figure out if ive set somthing wonky in bios or what the deal is

If anyone has any ideas i would be greatfull to hear them

thanks much

There may be a hardware problem, but is more likely a ton of unnessary programs being started up - for example HP scanners/printers clog the start up folder. So first scrutinize the start up programs - use something like Startup from http://www.mlin.net/ to clean them out.

Second problem could be malware - so run multiple anti spyware scans

but he said he tried another HDD then it can be a clogged HDD then. It could be a motherboard problem, try to put your hardware in another mobo and try again.

uh... again as i said he tried a different HARD DRIVE it can be because its clogged. and even if it was clogged it would run fine after boot-up.

yea ive tried 2 hds both i KNOW work fine also this same mobo worked fine ie.. fast load with the last processor i had

I personally think that ive jacked up some bios setting . I wonder if flashing the bios would help ?

you could try to flash the motherboards bios as long as you know how to flash properly if its a new motherborad they usually come with a way to flash from within windows using the program winflash. Thats how i flashed mine.

Good luck
