Windows support for iPod from Apple

I'd imagine it will seem like a big waste of time for Mediafour if Apple releases Window's compatible software in a few weeks (MacWorld?).

Either way, now that MediaFour's XPlay is shipping it's time to get an iPod!

After using a friends ipod I'd have to say I think it's the best mp3 player around. The way you can quickly move around your files and find what your looking for is so easy. Fire wire kicks ass too.

I'm dragging this one back up because Apple did indeed release the iPod today with Windows compatability. It includes Musicmatch Jukebox Plus for the Windows software and syncs with that.

They also introduced a new 20GB capacity version.

musicmatch jukebox plus??...wow, that's sad.

i'd rather use the xplay software or none at all and not even interface w/ my ipod...

Why is it sad?

Wow with that much space I can friggin store up to five songs! J/K kgraeme.

I'd rather to get a Rio or Nomad.

LOL! I was sitting here trying to figure out what you were talking about when I realized my mistake. It's obviously 20GB, not MB.

Amen to that, but this solution will have to do.

yeah tell us about it. I think they could have atleast come up with something similar to quicktime's GUI interface. the buttons might be asking for a lot though.

They should of just bought the rights to XPlay, tweaked it a bit and used that. Then all the work the Mediafour guys did wasn't for nothing 🙂

Anyone know how the ipod is going to show up on the pc you're using it on? Is it just going to add another drive letter like it does on the Mac? That would mean you could use the ipod as a portable hard drive (like you can for the mac), which would be enough to make me buy one 🙂

Yes, I sure have and still do. What compelling features are missing from it?

I also use MMJB and love it. I think it's a great application.

Does anyone know if I need any additional software to get my iPod to work with MMJB? I didn't see anything for d/l at Apple.

You have got me wondering that as well. I would love to have 20gigs of portable space to be connected through firewire.

That would definitely be very cool, and I don't see why it shouldn't. I guess we could give apple a call and find out.

Ditto. I really don't see what's wrong with MMJB.

To answer your question, as far as I'm aware you shouldn't need any additional software except MMJB for the iPod. I already have the full premium version of MMJB and I don't see how they've managed to be able to sort by artist -> album, etc, unless it's all done automatically on the iPod. I'm very anxious to find out how it'll work out with MMJB and Windows.
