My computer has been restarting on its own while playing games for a week or two now. I had reformatted once and it solved the problem for a while, but it's starting to do it again. Sometimes when it restarts, it says that windows has recovered from a serious error. I had usually just clicked don't send report but today i decided to report it, and this is what showed up.

Error type : Windows stop error (A message appears on a blue screen with error code information)
Solution available? : No (see Next steps)
What does this error mean? : Windows has encountered an error from which it cannot recover and needs to restart
Cause : Unknown device driver
Computer symptoms : A message appears on a blue screen with error code information (for example: e.g. 0x0000001E, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED)
Additional steps for you to take : Important: Please continue to send error reports so analysts at Microsoft can study and try to correct the problem as quickly as possible

Read my .sig first, and follow all of that - send me the MPSReports .CAB file output, and send me the minidumps from c:\windows\minidumps, and I'll take a look and see what's causing the problem (if I can).

There were a few issues in the dump; first points to ati3duag, second points to nothing, third points to pool corruption.

Update your ATI drivers (all of them - everything ATI offers you, you need to upgrade). If the problem continues, remove your PC from the internet, and then uninstall Symantec's AV productline, and then, after rebooting, re-test the game.

Let us know.

I reinstalled the latest ati video drivers, new sound card drivers, cpu drivers, and drivers for the unknown device. Might be a little overboard, but hey, just to be safe. Hasn't happened again yet, so maybe it fixed it! If it happens in the future, I'll be sure to bump. Thanks for the help!
