Windows Stop 0x1E error hotfix?

My Win2K laptop recently started having occasional BSODs with the error:

*** STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0xBFD827C0 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

I did a search on MS Knowledge base and found KB article 839427. The article says that this is a recognized issue with Win2K and that there is a hotfix to address it, but to get the hotfix I need to contact MS Product Support, and the KB then directs me to this site. All the options there would require me to pay significant amounts of money. :disgust: I don't really want to pay $99 simply to have MS send me the hotfix by email, specially when they could have simply posted the file for download. So, does anyone know where/how I can get this hotfix without having to pay for support I don't really need?

They shouldn't charge you for hotfixes. Although maybe stash can comment on the reasoning behind having to call up to get the hotfix.
