Windows startup problem

This problem just started up today. When I turn the comp on and the Windows login screen comes up I get an error saying

"Svchost.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x7c918fea" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be "written"."

If i type in my password right away and log in it just sits at the login screen and doesn't do anything. I have to wait a few minutes before actually logging in for it to work.

Earlier today I was having trouble from svchost.exe. It went up to 100% cpu usage it I tried to run windows update, and also was at 100% for a minute or two when Windows logs in.

The svchost.exe that is causing the problem is the one that runs audio

If anyone can help me out it would be appreciated!
