I apologize for my awkwardness, but this is my very first forum post.
I cannot seem to get Windows Setup (either XP PRO w/SP1, or XP 64-Bit Edition) to recognize the VIA RAID Drivers that I've downloaded from the VIARENA website. I went onto the VIA forums and created the diskette (I can't believe Windows still requires a diskette!) as recommended, but each time I get to the F6 screen - where it tries to read the floppy - it returns an error. The most common one stating that the VIAMRAID.SYS file is corrupt.
I spent all day Sunday trying to get this danged thing to load. I was finally, after about a dozen retries, able to get Windows XP Pro (w/SP1) to read the drivers off the floppy (don't ask me why it worked one time out of >15). Then, and only then, was I able to complete the Windows installation.
The problem is... I have a WD 200GB SATA HDD (which requires its Data LifeGuard Tools to initialize the drive and create an initial partition), and had initially installed it as a 137GB drive - since I didn't have an O.S. installed (let alone one that would recognize a drive with > 137GB). Big Mistake!!! I spent several more hours updating the drivers for all of my hardware, apps, etc. then decided that I really needed to re-run the Data Lifeguard Tool and reformat this drive as the entire 200GB. Now, I'm back to square one - trying to get Windows Setup to read the drivers off the floppy disk. Help! Can someone save me a day, or two of frustration trying to get this working again?
My 64-Bit System:
ASUS K8V Mobo
AMD 64 3200+
WD SATA 200GB HDD
ATI Radeon 9800 (AIW)
Antec P160 case
Antec TruePower 480 PSU
Kingston DDR2700 / 1GB Reg. ECC

What's the definition of Insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. So, you must be insane to work with Windows
