Windows Server Environment Web/Email Monitoring

Hello All!

I have finally joined the ANANDTECH forums! But lets get straight to the point. I help to manage a server 2003 environment here at my office, and the IT department is intrested in implementing some sort of email/web monitoring on our network. All the laptops are running windows xp and we have a server running 2k3. Do you all know of any methods to go about setting this up? Any tools?

All relevant feedback is appreciated!

: )

Thanks,

there are many many many tools for this.

As an MS shop, the default answer would be ISA server (MS product) but depending on needs, you could also go to a non MS product, such as squid (proxy) or a pure monitoring product, such as NTOP.

Thanks very much! You pretty much covered all bases in one post! I appreciate it much. I just have one last question about the items you posted....what do you mean by PURE monitoring product?

Something else to consider would be what kind of monitoring you're looking to do on email, are you just looking for records of who sent emails where or are you looking for full archiving of emails so the complete conversations can be reviewed?

There are a lot of products out there that support this.

can you please help me and provide an example of either of them? i am not sure what the boss men want to do.

and once again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
