As per my thread here, I've been having some shutdown problems with my server. Right now it seems to be only able to actually shutdown when done from the physical side, can't do it remotely.

This solution would be fine for me with the exception that eventually I won't have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse connected to it once everything is setup, so I need to be able to have it shutdown when I pres the power button.

This behavior is already setup, but the problem I have now is that when I do press the power button, instead of shutting down right away I get a pop-up message that reads something along the lines of "Other users may be using this server, if you shutdown they will be disconnected. Do you want to shutdown? [Yes] [No]".

My question would be is there any way to disable that message? I've looked through the local policy and found nothing related to this. Is there perhaps a registry setting that would disable this warning and force the server to shutdown as soon as I press the power button?

Thanks for your help.

There is something called the "Shutdown Event Tracker" that's enabled by default in 2003 server. Here's how to disable that:

Q: How do I disable the "Shutdown Event Tracker"?
A: Start > Run
MMC
File > Add/Remove Snap-in...
Add...
Group Policy Object Editor
Add

Finish

Close

OK

Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Dbl-Click "Display Shutdown Event Tracker" and select Disabled.
OK

File

Exit

-----------------------------done----------------------------------------------

Now, you should be able to shutdown either locally or remotely with the Shutdown command. You can set up a shortcut on your desktop that would let you do this remotely (or locally) or use the Start/Run command line:
