Windows Server 2012 R2 Antivirus without additional install requirements

[FONT=&quot]Any suggestions for which antivirus might be best for a Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine? I would like something which does not have any additional installation requirements/overheads.

We had initially decided on GFI:Vipre but now discover that this needs .Net 3.5 installed. Really don't want to do that, that would just add to the MS Updates workload.

Any suggestions for an antivirus which does not have this sort or additional requirement?

Thanks,

If you have a whole bunch of VM's you need to protect then look at bitdefender's virtualization product. It's awesome.

I have ESET NOD32 on a Windows Home Server 2011, which is a variant of WS2008 R2. I don't think it needs any additional supporting software components; you could grab a trial version and see.

That looks interesting but difficult to find out much about it. The Bitdefender website hardly mentions it. Any idea of the cost, I can't seem to find any reference to that anywhere.

It's very affordable, it's licensed on a per host basis (I think they also have a per vm license, but in most cases per host is cheaper). They sell though partners, it comes as a virtual appliance and IMHO it's the best product I've ever had to install/support. I've got it running on a 7 host 200VM environment currently. If I recall it was in the about $1k a host per year every 3 years.
