Windows Server 2003 Web Sever

I just finished installing Windows Server 2003. I am now trying to setup a web server, I think. I have never done this before. Essentially, what I am trying to do is create my own server that will allow me to access files remotly with authentication. Does anyone know how to do this with Windows 2003? Maybe a good step-by-step guide? I have found several guides online but non of them seem to help, or really teach me how to use the system. Thanks for any help.

Um, the little "Configure your server roles" dialog that comes up when you login has a Web Server role...
