Windows Server 2003 versus 2008

We're going through some large (for us) server migrations here over the next few months. Obviously we are getting Win 2k3 on the windows machines, but are curious about the upgrade path to win28 when released sometime next year. Is there an straight upgrade path or is ti a complete reisntall?

I ask because we can get Software Assurance, but to the tune of $1600 and if the direct upgrade path is not there, its likely something we will not do, and therefore wont spend the $1600.

Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks

It's my understanding that an upgrade path from 03 to 08 shouldn't be a problem so long as you're running 64 bit servers with 03. I believe Exchange 07 requires 64 bit and I thought the new server OS would follow suit as well. I can't say this for fact though.
Personally, we just did an upgrade round from 2K to 03. I purchased Exchange 07 licenses and CAL's but installed Exchange 03 since I don't have 64 bit hardware yet. I went ahead and got SA for 2 years on Server 03. I figure by the time I do our next server hardware refresh, the new OS should be pretty stable.

FWIW,

Exchange 07 does require 64 servers in production, but Server 2008 will be available in both 32 and 64 bit.
