Windows sees the CD-RW drive but I can't access a disk

I've been trying (with no success) to install an HP-9110i CD-RW drive in my system. It's controlled by my secondary controller which also is handling a CD-ROM. Both drives are acknowledged in the CMOS and both appear as icons in Windows. When I have a disk in both drives I can get a directory of the CD-ROM (G🙂 but when I try to read a CD in the CD-RW drive (H🙂 it is reported that the drive isn't ready. I've tried shuffling around the master and slave settings on the two drives but that doesn't do a thing. I can still read the CD-ROM but not the CD-RW. Running the HP supplied diagnostic program against the CD-RW reports that all is well with the drive, but still I can't get it to read a disk.

What am I doing wrong here?

TIA

Problem solved by turning off DMA option as per e-mail from HP. Just wanted to close out this thread and inform any other users of the HP-9110i who may experience the same problem in the future.
