windows search drop down table or related topics

Ok, I have windows xp and its really annoying when on Internet Explorer I go to such sites as google or yahoo or pretty much any site with a search box. I start typing in the box what I am looking for, and my computer has this drop down menu of all the related words i have typed in before from the past. Is it possible to get rid of that?
