Windows Search 4.0

Hi,

I just downloaded Windows Search 4.0 for my XP machine, and completed its default indexing. I tried searching for some email on my Outlook 2003 using the search box, but it couldn't find anything at all. I looked at the indexing locations and could only find Outlook Express in there. How do I index my Outlook?

Thx!

I'm going to assume you are using Outlook 2007. Open Outlook. Go to Tools > Options. Under the Preferences tab look for "Search". Click on "Search Options". Check the mailboxes and archives you want to index. I also recommend checking "Display search results as I type when possible". Click Ok.

Find the Windows Search 4.0 icon in the lower right hand corner (it looks like a magnifying glass). Right click and select "Index now". I recommend doing this when you are not going to use the computer for a few hours. Depending on how much stuff you've got it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours.

It indexes everything so searches happen in 0 - 3 seconds instead of waiting a long time for it do searches every time.
