when i press the info button on my monitor, it says 60hz. and its obvious just by looking at the picture that its 60hz.

windows won't let me change it back to 85. when i do so, it stays at 60.

help!

thx in advance

Make sure you have the right driver installed for your monitor. Look in device manager/monitors. You may also want to boot into safe mode and see how many monitors and display adapters are lurking there. You can only see mulltiple entries in safe mode. If this fails, completely uninstall your video drivers (including registry), switch to standard vga and then install the correct ones for your card.

in display properties/advanced/attributes tab, there was a setting for max refresh rate. this was on 60hz. i have no idea why, so i just pumped that up to 85hz, and it was all good
