Windows says drive is failing, but which one?

I keep getting the error that my hard disk is failing, but I can't tell which one. I imagine its the old PATA 250GB drive, and not my month old 1TB, but is there a way to be sure?

What is that program reading? The S.M.A.R.T. status? Is there a way to see SMART status in Windows?

Thanks

Check the System Event Log and look for "Disk" or "NTFS" errors. There will be mention of which disk is having errors. You'll have to decode the message to be sure which disk it came from.

Yeah, many (all?) disk maker's disk diagnostics programs will do a SMART query of drives. Some of those diagnostics programs will run from either Windows or DOS. But Windows doesn't rely on SMART to detect errors.
